Overland Travels Private Kilimanjaro trekking tour. In this trekking to climb to Kilimanjaro by the Marangu route it is in the one we find shelters to spend the night. The three camps, Mandara Hut, Horombo Hut and Kibo Hut, have beds, latrines, a dining room and running water. A fully organized trip to Tanzania in which you will have the help of experienced guides, the support of porters and cooks, so that you can enjoy the ascent of Kilimanjaro with the best guarantees.

This route of ascent to the highest mountain in Africa , is where we find the greatest unevenness per stage with respect to those made in any of the other itineraries, so we must not underestimate it. The hardness of trekking lies in the degree of acclimatization. On our organized trip , the third day is designed to improve this aspect, taking a tour of the surroundings of the Horombo Hut . The key day, the fifth day, you will start the ascent very early from Kibo Hut , to reach Uhuru Peak , the highest point of Kilimanjaro, at dawn. With the help of the guide who will accompany you and using six days in this adventure, the guarantees of reaching one of the coveted " seven peaks " are very high.

Overland Travel has  the capacity to organize this expedition at any time of the year and from a single participant, so you can travel whenever you want, you just have to tell us when and we will take care of everything.

Highlights:

An itinerary with shelters where to spend the night.

Observation of local flora and fauna throughout the ascent.

Crown the three summits of the Kibo crater.

Itinerary

Day 3 Moshi - Mandara Hut (2,700 m.)

In the morning, after having breakfast, a vehicle will transfer you to the Marangu entrance of the Kilimanjaro National Park , the starting point of this ascent itinerary. At this point you will meet the team of porters and cooks of Overland Tavel . The journey from Moshi to Marangu is a marvel of tropical rural scenery: coffee, bananas, tobacco, all kinds of tropical flowers and fruits, giant baobabs… all this with the impressive mountain landscape in the background. The beginning of the ascent to the Mandara refuge takes about four hours, by track at the beginning and a good path through the jungle later. Night in shelter.

Distance: 7 kilometers

Ascent slope: 910 meters.

Day 4 Mandara Hut (2,700 m.) - Horombo Hut (3,600 m.)

The first section of the day begins with a moderate unevenness, until reaching the area of greater vegetation and humid forest. When we reach the level of three thousand meters, the landscape changes from tropical forest to high altitude savannah, a constant landscape until the last stage, when we enter the high mountain area. We walk alongside giant lobelias , savanna flowers such as the " red hot pecker ", senecios - the most spectacular species in the area - and savanna shrubs, until we reach Horombo Hut , a group of shelters in about five or six hours. type "bungalow", houses for cooking and with a large shelter-dining room. The views towards Moshi and Arushafrom this altitude they are magnificent. From here you can see Mount Mawenzi (5,149 m.), Twin of Uhuru peak , as the locals call the summit of Kilimajaro .

Distance: 11 kilometers

Ascent slope: 950 meters.

Day 5 Horombo Hut (3,600 m.)

Today we dedicate the day to improve acclimatization and rest. We will walk through a spectacular environment with impressive views until the Zebra Rocks environment and we will return to our Horombo Hut camp to sleep.

Day 6 Horombo Hut (3,600 m.) - Kibo Hut (4,600 m.)

We will start walking very early to complete the ascent through a landscape that becomes more arid, wild and lunar-like. We are already in the high mountains. Arrived at the Kibo refuge , we will take a well-deserved rest, we will enjoy the impressive views that this formidable place offers and we will be able to study the itinerary that we will follow to the crater of Kilimanjaro a few hours later.

Distance: 10 kilometers

Ascent slope: 1010 meters.

Day 7 Kibo Hut (4,600 m.) - Kilimanjaro (5,895 m.) - Horombo Hut

We will get up at midnight and have a small snack before undertaking the ascent to Gillman's Point (5,680 m.), Already on the crest ridge. The first section has a moderate and maintained slope and is a key point in the ascent. When we reach the ridge, the route that separates us to the top of Uhuru Peak is easy but because of the altitude it is hard. Our guide will always accompany you to the main summit, so we will have to make an effort and maintain the illusion of reaching the roof of Africa and not returning and “taking it for granted”. An intermediate point on the ridge is Stella Point (5,700 m.), Where the Marangu Route and the Machame Route meet.. From that point we begin to skirt the diamond glacier, an impressive barrier of seracs, eternal ice just three degrees south of latitude on the equator. The reward for so much effort is found at the summit of Kilimanjaro , Uhuru Peak (5,895 m.) , And the views of a unique sunrise on the planet.

We descend to Kibo Hut, where we will take a well-deserved rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut , where we will spend the night.

Distance: 18 kilometers

Ascent slope: 1205 meters.

Descent slope: 2210 meters.

Day 8 Horombo Refuge (3,600 m.) - Moshi

We descend along the well-known ascent itinerary to the Marangu entrance . There we will take a vehicle that will transfer us to our hotel in Moshi .
